Privacy Policy

Overview

Recopy ("we", "our", "the app") is a clipboard manager for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Recopy accesses, how it's stored, and your rights.

What Data Recopy Accesses

Recopy monitors your system clipboard to save items you copy. This includes text, images, URLs, files, and other clipboard content. This data is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database.

Recopy does not access data from apps that are excluded from clipboard monitoring (password managers like 1Password, LastPass, Dashlane, Bitwarden, KeePassXC, and Keychain Access are excluded by default).

Data Storage

All clipboard data is stored locally on your device. Recopy uses a local SQLite database within the app's sandboxed container. No clipboard data is sent to our servers or any third-party service.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your clipboard history is synced across your Apple devices using your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. This data is stored in your personal iCloud storage and is subject to Apple's iCloud privacy policy.

iCloud sync is entirely opt-in. Recopy works fully offline without it. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Sensitive Data Detection

Recopy includes a feature that detects potentially sensitive data in your clipboard, including credit card numbers, Social Security numbers, API keys, passwords, email addresses, and phone numbers. This detection is performed entirely on your device. No sensitive data is transmitted anywhere.

Analytics & Tracking

Recopy does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not track your usage, collect telemetry, or build user profiles. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete individual clipboard items or your entire history at any time from within the app. When you delete data, it is permanently removed from the local database. If iCloud sync is enabled, deletions are synced across your devices.

Uninstalling Recopy removes all locally stored data. iCloud data can be managed through your iCloud account settings.

Security

Recopy uses Apple's App Sandbox on macOS and the standard iOS app sandbox to isolate your data. The macOS version uses hardened runtime. All data is stored within the app's sandboxed container and is not accessible to other applications.

Children's Privacy

Recopy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
